| How you can help as a Citizen - |
| The existing system by which driving licences are issued by the Licencing Authorities in our country suffers from certain weaknesses. The person whose driving licence has been suspended can sometimes manage to procure a fresh driving licence from some other licencing authority and thus continue to drive even during the period of suspension. The Chandigarh Traffic Police seeks the active cooperation of the community in combating this problem. You can act as a community policeman by keeping a watch over the habitual traffic offenders serving a sentence of suspension that debars them from driving during the period of suspension. If you observe them to be driving during this period and thus violating the suspension order you should bring it to the notice of the Traffic Police. This information can be provided at the toll free Traffic Helpline Number 1073 or through e-Mail (see 'Contact Us' in the Main Menu).
You can find out the names of all habitual traffic offenders who are facing sentences of suspension of driving licence in your locality from this web site. Wide media publicity is also given to the 'Orders of Suspension of Driving Licences of Habitual Offenders'.
